Fort Campbell is reporting its first positive case of the coronavirus.
The infected person is a dependent of a military retiree at Fort Campbell and is currently isolated at their home, which is outside the army post.
A statement from the installation says officials with Blanchfield Army Community Hospital are working to determine whether any others may have been exposed.
"If any individuals are determined to be at risk, they will be directly notified," according to a statement from the post. "Health professionals and leaders are coordinating closely with civilian authorities in the surrounding area to determine any potential risk of exposure off the installation."
While this is the first known case of COVID-19 at Fort Campbell, there are more than 200 tests pending. Fort Campbell leaders are working with civilian authorities in the surrounding area to determine any potential risk of exposure off the post.
Fort Campbell is implementing control measures to help combat the spread of COVID-19, such as using only essential personnel, making restaurant services to-go only, and restricting childcare facilities.
Meanwhile, the 531st Hospital Center based at Fort Campbell is deploying to New York to support that state’s response to the coronavirus.
