An epidemiologist with Med Center Health in Bowling Green says health officials are slowly learning more about the transmission and incubation period of the COVID 19 coronavirus. Dr. Rebecca Shadowen says the average onset of symptoms is about four to five days after exposure, but the virus can linger in the body even after symptoms subside.
"We presume you get infected, and then it takes it time to develop the disease, but we are saying up to 14 days after an exposure of any kind, you may still develop symptoms of the infection. Even after you’re treated, or you resolve most of your symptoms, you may still carry the virus for around 20 to 24 days.”
