U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is making the case for more U.S. investment to help Ukraine defeat Russia. The Louisville Republican held a closed meeting on Tuesday with members of the Knox Regional Development Authority in Elizabethtown.

Mariia Novoselia came to Bowling Green as part of a global student exchange program in January 2022, but those plans changed after the Russian invasion of her homeland.

“I don’t want men and women in American uniform fighting in eastern Europe, and I think the best way to prevent is to fight the Russian army, to bring them to the negotiating table with Ukraine soldiers. And the Ukraine soldiers would not be successful without our support," said U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie of Bowling Green.

The Warren County-based International Center of Kentucky won’t reach its goal of resettling 500 refugees by the end of the current federal fiscal year.
