More Repairs Needed on I-65 Bridge over Ohio River

Kentucky transportation officials say there's more work needed on the Interstate 65 bridge over the Ohio River between Louisville and southern Indiana. The Courier-Journal reports that two more repairs are needed, including fixing a possible crack that may be expanding.

David Steele of the Transportation Cabinet's bridge preservation branch says the repair will require closing the far right southbound lane during a weekend.

Another repair will be to a pothole, expected to be done before the end of September. Steele says it will require shutting down the far left southbound lane for about eight hours.

The nearly 50-year-old bridge underwent weeks of repairs this summer, closing lanes and exits and tying up traffic in both states. The new work will be under the same contract.
