An occupancy permit could be granted Tuesday for a Tennessee mosque that’s been at the center of controversy. A final inspection was scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, and congregation leaders say they hope to hold their first prayers in the new facility this week.The muslim community in the Rutherford County area has faced fierce opposition by some this year, including lawsuits over the construction of the 12,000-square-foot mosque, threats, and vandalism. However, many other locals have rallied around the local Islamic community, saying they have every right to build a house of worship in the area.
