Piping industry union fills generators for Tennessee and Kentucky residents without power

Blake Farmer | WPLN

The Tennessee State Pipe Trades Association is giving more than 2,500 gallons of gas to people impacted by the tornadoes.

The gas is helping fill the generators of homes from Southwest Kentucky to Northwest Tennessee.

The trade union’s financial manager Eric Coons says they have also been assisting recovery efforts from the flood in Waverly.

“We’ve also been going up there frequently and helping people with damage to their homes,” said Coons. “So this is something we’ve been trying to do for a while now.”

Union members raised more than $10,000 to purchase and deliver the fuel to Kentucky.
