McConnell Wants More Resources to Fight Drugs in Hardin County

Meth is a growing problem in parts of our region.

Kentucky U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell is urging White House Drug Czar Gil Kerlikowske to include Hardin County in the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. That would mean more federal resources to combat illegal drugs in an area that has seen a significant increase in drug related crimes.

McConnell met with Kerlikowske Thursday to talk about the drug problems facing Kentucky.

McConnell said more than 80 Kentuckians are dying each month from drug overdoses, more than are killed by car crashes in the state.
