Bluegrass Poll Shows High Marks for Beshear, Even from Republicans

A new poll shows nearly two-thirds of Kentuckians approve of Governor Steve Beshear’s job performance. Sixty-four percent of respondents say they either strongly approve or somewhat approve of the job Governor Beshear is doing, with 28% strongly or somewhat strongly disapproving.

The 64% approval rate is a better figure than what Beshear received during last year’s general election, when he received 56% of the statewide vote.

The Bluegrass Poll shows the Governor doing well with his base, with 78% of Democrats approving of his job performance. Fifty-seven percent of independents feel the same.

In what was perhaps the poll’s most surprising finding, a narrow majority of Republicans—51%--also say they approve of the job Beshear is doing.

The poll surveyed 606 likely Kentucky voters and has a plus-or-minus margin of error of 4.1%.
