Democrats Hope to Rally Support in Effort to Win Kentucky's 4th U.S. House Seat

Democratic congressional candidate Bill Adkins is calling for financial supporters to get behind his campaign now that U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis has resigned from office. Davis resigned abruptly on Tuesday, saying a family medical issue prevented him from fulfilling his congressional responsibilities.

Gov. Steve Beshear is expected to call a special election to fill Davis' seat through the end of the year.

That likely means that Adkins, a northern Kentucky lawyer, and Republican nominee Thomas Massie will be on both the special election ballot and the general election ballot.

Massie, an engineer, has a major fundraiser later this month in Oldham County that will be headlined by Republican U.S. Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul.
