On the eve of Kentucky’s governor election last week, many Republicans were confident Daniel Cameron’s momentum would push him across the finish line ahead of Democratic incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear in the deep red state. That did not turn out to be the case – and it wasn’t very close.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear won a second term Tuesday by a comfortable margin, as the incumbent Democrat defeated Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron by roughly five percentage points and 67,174 votes.

As the voting results start being tabulated and reported on Tuesday, there are several factors to watch that may give a glimpse at where the outcomes are headed
