Despite being bowl eligible for a third straight season, the WKU Hilltopper football team was not selected to take part in a bowl this postseason. WKU finished with an 8-4 record and was considered by bowls in Detroit, Mobile, Ala. and Shreveport, La.
Athletic Director Todd Stewart says with 79 bowl-eligible teams and 70 spots, someone was going to be left out.
“For me personally, this feels like a loss right now,” said Stewart. “But I think when you have difficulty, I think you need to take a step back and take a look at the big picture. That’s what I’ve tried to do and that’s what I hope our fans do.”
Stewart says he’s especially disappointed for the seniors who have played their final game in a Hilltopper uniform.
