A Breathitt County woman is the first in Kentucky to be convicted of causing a death by selling prescription drugs. Judy McIntosh is headed to prison after pleading guilty to distributing Oxycodone that resulted in a death. According to the plea agreement, a woman bought the pills from McIntosh, consumed them, and later died at McIntosh’s home. U-SAttorney Kerry Harvey for the Eastern district of Kentucky says prescription dealers should take note that it’s a serious crime.
“It’s not a murder charge per se, but the penalties are very similar to what you would expect in a murder case, “says Harvey.
The 47-year-old McIntosh will be sentenced in July. She faces at least 20 years behind bars.
