A Bowling Green murder suspect was airlifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with a non-life threatening injury following a shoot-out with police. Once he's released, State Police Trooper B. J. Eaton says 59 year old Gary Thompson will be arrested for the murder of 37 year old Sheila Nash.
They don't know why, but police say Thompson entered Nash's residence at 214 East Heights Avenue in Bowling Green just after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night and shot her. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County coroner.
A warrant was issued for Thompson for murder-domestic violence and he was located in a mobile home on Loop Drive just before 2:00 Wednesday morning.
Troopers say he brandished a handgun and pointed it at Troopers and Warren County sheriff's deputies outside. There is no report that Thompson fired at police. Trooper David Hall fired two rounds at Thompson but he was not hit.
That's when police say Thompson turned his gun on himself and fired one round, striking himself under the jaw.
The Medical Center at Bowling Green flew Thompson to Nashville. He'll be charged with Nash's murder upon his release and will be extradited back to Kentucky for prosecution.
