Southern Kentucky Food Pantry Struggling to Help Needy

With the holiday season fast approaching, a food pantry in southern Kentucky is struggling to come up with enough food to give to needy families. The Come-Unity Cooperative Care food pantry in London is the central agency that hands out food to needy residents.

CCC Executive Director Linda Gilreath told WKYT-TV that government staples such as cereal, juice, green beans and milk aren't even available. She says the agency is down to beef stew and mixed fruit.

Gilreath says the agency has already dipped into its rainy day funds, and other similar agencies don't have extra to spare.

She says she remains hopeful that residents who can will donate food, so that they can help families in need, especially with Thanksgiving Day approaching.
