The National Academic Quiz Tournament Championship is like a game of Jeopardy for high school students with bragging rights and a trophy as the grand prize.

This weekend, five Glasgow High School students and Academic Team Coach Todd Garrison will compete against more than 300 other schools in the 2019 Championship Tournament in Atlanta.

"It's similar to a four person Jeapordy team event, said Coach Garrison, the difference is you get bonus questions.  The old College Bowl, back in the 50's and 60's I think is the inspiration.  You know, you get a question and if one of your teammates buzzes and gets in, then you get a bonus and the team can confer on those bonus questions."

Coach Garrison says the quiz bowl competition focuses on science, math, history, literature, arts and culture.  He says G-H-S’ quick recall team practices before and after school all year long.  The team is hoping to place in the top 50 schools nationwide.
