Kentucky Governor Will Call Special Session

Consensus Forecasting Group meets in Frankfort to determine extent of budget deficit.

Frankfort, KY – A independent panel of economists has confirmed Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear's fears. The state is facing a budget shortfall near one billion dollars heading into next fiscal year which begins July 1st. A battle could be brewing between Senate leaders and Governor Beshear over the need for a special legislative session. Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeigh has this report.
