Frankfort, KY – State officials will decide this week whether to allow family members of the miners killed in an explosion to be present for the interviews Kentucky investigators have scheduled.
The family members have no legal right to be present, but an attorney representing some of them has asked Governor Fletcher to grant special permission for them to attend.
The Governor's Secretary of the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet, LaJuana Wilcher, says the state will consider allowing family representatives to participate.
Wilcher's comments came Monday night on KET's "Kentucky Tonight" program.
The attorney representing the families has cited the fact that Fletcher and his administration have said they want to help family members in any way they can.
