Separate Drownings Claim Two Lives

Madisonville, KY – State police report a drowning at lake Malone State Park in Muhlenberg County. Trooper Stu recke says the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
The drowning occurred early Sunday evening as the person was swimming at the beach outside of the designated swimming area and was unable to make it to shore. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Muhlenberg County coroner Tony Armor. No foul play is suspected.
There's also been a second drowning in less than a month at Weldon Peete Park in Bowling Green.
18 year old Chriostopher Morrison of Bowling Green drowned in the Barren River Saturday afternoon.
On July 9th, a 52 year old Bowling Green man drowned at the same park. Authorities say Richard Stout slipped off of an embankment.
Morrison's friend, Keith McPherson, said he and Morrison hadn't been at the park for more than five or ten minutes when they began swimming in the river. he says Morrison went under the water and never came back up.
Rescue squad spokesperson Deborah Williams says the teen's body was found some 100 feet down river.
