Student Charged Over Threatening Message Found in Bathroom at Daviess Co. School

Daviess County Public Schools

A Daviess County High School student is facing criminal charges after a threatening message was discovered on a bathroom stall door.

The Messenger-Inquirer reports the message read, “Gonna Shoot Up School at 1:45”.

A male juvenile was later questioned by school staff and admitted to writing the message.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department took the teen into custody and charged him with disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief, which are both misdemeanors.

A spokeswoman for Daviess County Public Schools says there were never any weapons at the school, and that students were never in any danger.

The incident in Daviess County is the latest in a string of incidents across Kentucky involving teens being arrested for making threats of school violence following last week’s deadly shootings in Parkland, Florida.

Arrests were recently made following threats to schools in Clay, Whitley, Knox, Jessamine, and Christian counties, and Glasgow.
