Somerset is the site of a forum this week that will address concerns related to children and families involved in Kentucky’s foster care system.

The forum is being hosted by local Citizen Foster Care Review Boards and is the second-to-last in a series of gatherings held across the state. Organizers say discussions will include overcoming barriers to getting children into permanent homes in a timely manner and ensuring their well-being and safety while in foster care and other out-of-home care.

The Somerset forum is being held Friday, Oct. 26, from 12:30 to 1:45pm in the Pulaski County Community Room at 925 N. Main St.

The state is also putting out the call for volunteers to serve on Citizen Foster Care Review Boards in several counties in our region, including Allen, Barren, Breckinridge, Butler, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, Larue, Logan, McLean, Todd, and Warren.

Volunteers don’t have to live in the same county as the foster care review board they serve on.

More information about Citizen Foster Care Review Boards and regional forums can be found here.
