A new poll of Kentucky adults finds a deep divide concerning the Affordable Care Act.
The Kentucky Health Issues Poll shows 44 percent of Kentucky adults have a favorable opinionof the ACA, while 33 percent say they have an unfavorable view toward the federal health law.
A little more than half said the ACA—also known as “Obamacare”—has had no impact on them and their families. About 20 percent said the law has had a positive impact, while a similar amount said the impact had been negative.
The 44 percent approval for the ACA in Kentucky marks an 18 point improvement since 2010, when only 26 percent of Kentuckians said they approved of Obamacare.
Kentucky expanded its Medicaid program under the ACA, a move that dramatically dropped the number of uninsured people in the state.
The Kentucky Health Issues Poll is an annual telephone poll funded by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky and Interact for Health.
