Kentucky residents who suffered damage or loss from the December tornadoes have until Feb. 11 to apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
FEMA spokesperson Troy York, who is located at the Bowling Green recovery center, said there’s been a steady flow of people applying for assistance.
“Registration here in Warren County, so far, as of a couple of days ago, is 3,228 folks," said York. "Out of the almost 13,000 that have applied, that’s a pretty fair percentage.”
Those 13,000 FEMA applications are from residents across Kentucky. So far, the agency has approved approximatley $12 million in aid.
“Anyone can go to any recovery center that is more convenient to them, regardless of where their damage may have occurred," said York. "You can make application at any recovery center.”
There are currently 15 FEMA recovery centers across Kentucky in counties impacted by the tornadoes. FEMA can provide funds for disaster assistance, including temporary housing and rebuilding.
