Kentucky Rallies in Support of Impeaching Trump Set for Dec. 17

National Archives

Bowling Green and other cities in Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee will join communities across the nation holding rallies on Dec. 17  in support of impeaching President Donald Trump. The rallies are in advance of the planned Dec. 18 vote by the U.S. House of Representatives on whether Trump should be impeached.

The nationwide network of rallies is called "Nobody Is Above the Law".

Several of the Kentucky rallies planned for Bowling Green, Frankfort, Hodgenville, Louisville, and Owensboro specifically call on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to support the U.S. Constitution and hold an “adequate” impeachment trial in the Senate.

Democrats are criticizing Kentucky Senator McConnell for prejudging the outcome of the trial since the Republican leader has announced he will be in "lockstep" with the White House on the impeachment proceedings.

President Trump is charged with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

In addition to the Kentucky rallies, regional events are planned in Nashville and Clarksville in Tennessee, and Evansville, Indiana.

The nationwide effort is sponsored by a coalition of groups that includes Move On and Indivisible.

The Bowling Green rally will be Dec. 17, at 4:30 p.m. at the downtown Fountain Square.
