Former Hopkinsville Band Director Indicted on Rape and Sodomy Charges, Wife Charged with Tampering

Cory Sharber I WKMS

Former Hopkinsville High School Band Director Jordan Seth Peveler has been indicted on four counts of rape, four counts of sodomy and unlawful transaction with a minor.

The charges are Class D Felonies. According to the indictment, the alleged acts involved a minor and occurred between June 2017 and May 2018.

The indictment describes incidents as taking place in a school instrument closet and in his home. The unlawful transaction involves providing marijuana to a minor.

Peveler’s wife, former assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Hannah Peveler, was also indicted on three counts of tampering with a witness. She worked in Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling’s office. Boling said she tendered her resignation this week.

“I just know that she found herself as a betrayed wife, a mother of a child whose dad looks like he’s going to prison for a long time and unfortunately, a former assistant Commonwealth attorney,” Boling said.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Dennis Foust is serving as special prosecutor. He said there is one victim involved in the Jordan Seth Peveler case.

Jordan Seth Peveler was appointed band director in 2014. He is no longer employed in the school system.

Arraignment is set for July 3 in Christian Circuit Court.
