Martha Barnette Comes To Bowling Green March 9th

Martha Barnette, co-host of A Way with Words will be in Bowling Green on Thursday, March 9th, for a presentation on the state of language followed by a Q&A session. 

The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. CST and will take place at the Augenstein Alumni Center ballroom on the WKU campus.

Admission is free, but we ask that you please RSVP by following the link below. We look forward to hearing from Martha and we look forward to seeing many of our listeners there. 

PARKING INFORMATION: You are welcome to park in the Alumni Square Parking Garage, located next to the Augenstein Alumni Center. If you do, please remember to pick up a validation ticket on your way out of the ballroom following the event (so you won't have to pay for parking). 

Free parking is also available in the Kentucky Street Lot (across the street from the Alumni Center) after 4:30 p.m.

More about Martha Barnette 
Martha holds an undergraduate degree in English from Vassar College, and did graduate work in classical languages at the University of Kentucky. She studied Spanish in Costa Rica at the ILISA Language Institute.

Before her work in radio, Martha was a reporter for the Washington Post and an editorial writer for the Louisville Courier-Journal. She’s the author of three books on word origins: A Garden of Words, Ladyfingers & Nun’s Tummies: A Lighthearted Look at How Foods Got Their Names, and Dog Days & Dandelions. She’s often quoted in the news media about language topics.

Martha joined A Way with Wordsin 2004. She’s president of Wayword, Inc., the 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit that produces and distributes the program with support from listeners and underwriters. She holds a Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

A Kentucky native, she lives in San Diego, where she can be found hiking mountain trails and performing improv comedy at Finest City Improv.
