It wasn't easy, but the WKU Hilltoppers made history Saturday night, beating Kentucky on the football field for the first time. WKU blew a 17 point first half lead, but won the game in overtime in dramatic fashion, 32-31. Kentucky scored a touchdown on their first overtime possession, forcing WKU to do the same. After Hilltopper running back Antonio Andrews scored, WKU needed an extra point to tie and go into a second overtime. But Hilltopper head coach Willie Taggart rolled the dice and decided to go for a two-point conversion.
The WKU men's basketball team will be without one of their top reserves this season. Sophomore Nigel Snipes suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee Monday, and will miss the entire 2012-13 season. A statement issued by WKU Athletics says a full recovery is expected in time for the 2013-14 season.
