New Rules Require Kentucky Doctors to Do More to Combat Pill Abuse

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has signed emergency regulations that require doctors to meet tougher prescription standards in an effort to stop drug abuse. The rules, which were given to given to state boards that oversee the medical industry on Friday, were presented to lawmakers this week and will remain in effect until permanent regulations are adopted.

Beshear Resisting Calls So Far to Opt Out of Expanded Medicaid Program

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is not joining other Kentucky  officials in calling for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Many leading Republicans in the state—including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell—have pushed for full repeal of the healthcare law. But in an interview with NPR, Beshear said they're playing politics.

Governor's Office Names Tax Consulting Team

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear’s office has awarded the contract for the Blue Ribbon Commission on Tax Reform to a three person team made up of two consultants from the University of Kentucky and one from the University of Tennessee.  The Governor says the individuals selected for the consulting team have the necessary experience to address the issues before the Commission.
