A judge is expected to decide soon whether all notes and recordings taken during an investigation into the Barren County Detention Center are public records and if any of the files will be edited before release.

The drought that has impacted so many parts of region is also presenting major challenges to livestock producers. The lack of corn crop this year has led to higher feed prices for cattle, and that is forcing livestock producers into a difficult decision: do they sell their cattle now at a loss, or hold on to those animals in hopes of getting better prices down the road?

Parts of southern and western Kentucky have nearly exhausted the 270 area code and are in line for an additional one. The Kentucky Public Service Commission is weighing a request to make the next area code available to all new phone customers throughout the region, rather than to apply it geographically.
