Hardin County Social Worker Leaves Multi-Million-Dollar Gift for College Aid

A former social worker for the Hardin County Schools has left a $2.42 million endowment for college scholarships there. The News-Enterprise reports Charley Nell Llewellyn’s gift is expected to generate about $100,000 a year and is the largest philanthropic gift in the county’s history.

American Education Week to Start Sunday

The Role of public education will be celebrated  across the nation, starting November 11th. American Education Week runs through Saturday November 17th. Organizers of the event say its an opportunity to celebrate the work done by teachers and school staff. The theme of the week’s schedule is “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.”
