She may not have been in the pool Saturday, but former WKU swimmer Claire Donahue will bring home an Olympic gold medal just the same.
The U.S. women's team won the 4x100 meter relay, continuing America's dominance in swimming during these games in London.
Donahue swam in Friday's semi-finals race, which advanced the U.S. into Saturday's finals. Because of her efforts, Donahue will bring home a gold medal as part of the relay team.
The American women finished Saturday's relay with a time of 3 minutes, 52.05 seconds.
Australia won silver, while Japan finished with the bronze.
Donahue's gold medal caps an historic milestone for WKU. Before these London games, no Hilltopper swimmer had ever competed in the Olympics for a U.S. team.
