WKU Announces Next Three Members of School's Hall of Distinguished Alumni

Three graduates of Western Kentucky University are being inducted into the school’s Hall of Distinguished Alumni this fall.

Becky Ann Baker is a 1975 WKU graduate and Broadway, film, and TV character actress. She’s appeared in two Judd Apatow series, Freaks and Geeks, and the HBO blockbuster Girls.

Nettie Depp was a 1910 graduate of Southern Normal School, the forerunner of WKU, and studied under WKU founder and first president Henry Hardin Cherry.

Depp was a teacher, principal, and superintendent at Barren and Allen counties. She led the effort to unify local schools to create Barren County’s first four-year high school, and was an education reformer who promoted a uniform curriculum across all county schools.

Dr. Richard Rink is a 1974 WKU graduate who is recognized as one of the top pediatric urologists in the world. He serves as the Emeritus Professor at Indiana University Medical Center’s Riley Hospital forChildren.

The three will be inducted into the WKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni during the school’s Homecoming Celebration this October.
