Winter Storm Warning Impacting Region Friday, with Dangerous Road Conditions Expected

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is reporting roads in the south central Kentucky region are wet, but conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day. Road crews in Todd and Butler Counties are out salting the roads.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Corey King said the William H. Natcher Parkway near Daviess County is already seeing worsening conditions. He reports there are some cars sliding off the road. 

School closings 

The prospect of snow and ice has caused the following school districts to cancel classes for Friday, Jan. 12:

*Allen, Barren, Breckenridge, Butler, Ohio, Clinton, Cumberland, Daviess, Edmonson, Grayson, Hardin, Hart, Henderson, Hopkins, Larue Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Simpson, Todd and Union, Warren, Webster County schools

*Bowling Green Independent, Russellville, Owensboro, Caverna Independent, Glasgow Christian Academy, Glasgow City, Foundation Christian Academy, Wisdom Faith Christian Academy

*All campuses of Western Kentucky University

*Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College, Madisonville Community College

The Kentucky House and Senate will not convene on Friday. Members are scheduled to return to Frankfort Tuesday, Jan. 16.
