Owensboro peace advocates are holding a rally Thursday night in support of the United Nation’s International Day of Peace.

The group Nonviolent Owensboro is honoring the 70th anniversary of the U.N.'s Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Musicians, speakers, and religious leaders will participate in the Owensboro Peace Rally.

Nonviolent Owensboro Chairperson Mary Danhauer says the group wants to support those who feel like they’re on the margins of society.

Danhauer says the group partners with organizations like the NAACP, Fairness Coalition, and local ministries to promote nonviolent action against poverty, racism, and other forms of discrimination.

“You also realize that my problem is not solved until your problem is solved until the other person’s problem is solved. It’s all, you know, interconnected," Dannhauer said.

The Peace Rally will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Smothers Park in Owensboro.
