Kentucky Hospitals Working on Quality Improvement Program
About one hundred hospitals in Kentucky are joining together in a new partnership to help reduce preventable hospital re-admissions. Donna Meador, Project Director of the Kentucky Hospital Engagement Network, says the program can help hospitals to boost the quality of healthcare in the state, and help to reduce healthcare costs at the same time.
Meador says the K-Hen program has two major goals: to reduce preventable hospital admissions by 20 percent and to reduce hospital acquired conditions by 40 percent. Hospitals in Kentucky will be sharing information about best practices, learning networks, and other resources to help improve patient safety.
