Greg Collins Introduced As The New WKU Women's Head Basketball Coach

WKU Athletic Communications

Greg Collins was officially introduced as the 11th Western Kentucky University women’s head basketball coach Wednesday. He’s been a collegiate assistant coach for 16 years, including the last six seasons at WKU.

He said he worked closely with previous WKU head coach, Michelle Clark-Heard, and doesn’t expect to change much about the program. Collins said he stayed at WKU because he never wanted to bounce around from place to place.

“Wasn’t willing to pursue a head coaching job and take a chance of being unhappy in life,” Collins said. “So we were happy here and weren’t going to change that and had a great working relationship with coach Herd and we were winning ball games. So sometimes when you’re winning it’s good to stay put.”

Clark-Heard left WKU to become the new head coach at Cincinnati. The Lady Hilltoppers finished last season with a record of 24-and-9, and won the Conference USA postseason tournament.
