More Problems on I-65 Tuesday

All lanes are open after a morning crash involving a bus, two commercial vehicles and two cars. Kentucky State Police report some people involved in the accident were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Crashes involving commercial vehicles and a passenger bus have blocked all I-65 southbound lanes near the Bonnieville (Exit 71) interchange. Motorists should use Exit 76 and continue south via U.S. 31-W to rejoin I-65 at Munfordville.  A closure duration estimate is not available at this time.

I-65 Down to One Lane Both Ways in Hardin County

One lane is blocked in both directions of I-65 near mile marker 83 in Hardin County, between Glendale and Sonora.

An accident involving a semi and another vehicle is the cause.

Motorists are advised to expect lengthy delays due to the lane reduction and winter weather.

I-65 North Closed in Two Locations

Kentucky State Police report I-65 northbound lanes are closed at Sonora, in Hardin County, and Shepherdsville, in Bullitt County, Tuesday morning.

We'll update with more details when they are available.

All WKU Campuses Closed Tuesday

All campuses of Western Kentucky University will be closed Tuesday due to the winter weather.

Slick Road Conditions Seen Tuesday Morning

The Bowling Green office of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet sent the following information out early Tuesday morning:

Most main routes are covered or partially covered with snow. Crews are working on the main routes and will work their way down to the B and C routes as time progresses. Since the main routes are at least partially covered, more rural routes can be expected to be in worse shape.

The temperatures are around 15 degrees and dropping across the district. The frigid temps will make treating the roads very difficult. If any ice forms on the roadway the frigid temperatures will make our salt treatment ineffective unless the sun comes out to heat up the roadway. The crews are able to plow a lot of the snow off the roadway, however, it takes time to do so. We ask for folks to be patient especially those who live on more rural routes. The snow & ice route designations by county can be found at Snowky.ky.gov. Motorists that have to be out in these conditions need to use extreme caution and not crowd the snow plows. Leave plenty of space between vehicles and slow down.

The snow, ice and shutdown of area schools and local organizations is happening again, before the wintry mix from last Friday's storm has melted off side roads and driveways.

While snowfall is expected to range between one and three inches, the extremely cold temperature rising only into the teens during the daytime on Tuesday increases the danger of being outdoors.

Snow, icy roads and anticipated frigid temperatures have caused the following school districts to cancel classes for Tuesday, Jan. 16:

Butler County Schools, Daviess County Public Schools, Hancock County Schools, Henderson County Schools, Hopkins County Schools, Logan County Schools, McLean County Schools, Metcalfe County Schools, Muhlenberg County Schools,  Ohio County Schools, Owensboro Public Schools, Union County Schools, Webster County Schools.

Students in Simpson County Schools were already scheduled to be off on Tuesday for the Franklin-Simpson staff Learning Community Day. However, that staff event is canceled due to hazardous conditions on some campuses and area streets and the forecast for more snow. The event will be rescheduled.
