Applications Being Taken for Kentucky Student Council

Kentucky public school students in grades 10 to 12 who have ideas about how schools and student achievement can be improved that they would like to pass along to Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday can apply for appointment to an advisory board.

The state Education Department says the Next-Generation Student Council is a yearlong program that provides feedback from Kentucky students and engages student leaders in learning by doing. The group meets with Holliday and Education Department staff to discuss decisions and give feedback.

Appointments will be based on the applicants' ability to communicate their ideas and goals. Four students will be selected.

Applications must be in by 4:30 p.m. EDT Aug. 31.
