Kevin Willis

News Director

Kevin is the News Director at WKU Public Radio.  He has been with the station since 1999, and was previously the Assistant News Director, and also served as local host of Morning Edition.  He is a broadcast journalism graduate of WKU, and has won numerous awards for his reporting and feature production.  Kevin grew up in Radcliff, Kentucky and currently lives in Glasgow.

Indiana Senate Committee Gives the Go-Ahead to Teaching Creationism in Public Schools

An Indiana Senate panel has approved a bill that would allow creationism to be taught in the Hoosier State’s public schools. The Senate Education Committee voted 8-to-2 to send the legislation to the full Indiana Senate despite pleas from scientists and some religious leaders to keep religion out of public school science classrooms.

South Union Shaker Village Continues Work to Identify Shaker Graves

An important restoration effort has made major strides at the South Union Shaker Village in Logan County. Over the past four-and-a-half years, staff identified 425 grave sites at the village, built a new fence around that cemetery, and gave the area a proper memorial marker.

WKU Public Radio exclusive: Warren County Rep. DeCesare to run for new Senate seat

A Warren County House Republican says he'll seek a new office rather than run against his fellow GOP incumbents. Under the redistricting plan sent to Governor Beshear Thursday, Rockfield Republican Jim DeCesare would be placed in a district along with CB Embry of Morgantown and Michael Meredith of Brownsville. But DeCesare told WKU Public Radio he will file papers Friday to run for a new state Senate seat that covers parts of Warren, Allen, Simpson, Logan, Todd, and Muhlenberg counties.

Indiana Governor will give GOP response to President's State of the Union address

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has been picked to deliver the Republican response to President Obama's State of the Union address. Daniels was considered a possible GOP Presidential candidate this year before deciding not to run for the White House.
