Full Kentucky Derby Field Set for Saturday's Run For the Roses

The post positions and early odds are set for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.  The morning line favorite is Bodemeister, at 4 to 1, trained by three-time Derby winner Bob Baffert. Bodemeister will run from post position six.

Major Kentucky Healthcare Provider Told to Try for Agreement with Medicaid Operator

A federal judge has ordered Eastern Kentucky’s largest healthcare provider and one of its major Medicaid operators to talk through their issues before appearing in court this week. Appalachian Regional Healthcare filed suit last month against CoventryCares, which is one of four private Medicaid operators in Kentucky. ARH says Coventry was late with reimbursement payments, and has refused to extend its contract past Friday.

We'll Know the Kentucky Derby Post Positions Tonight

The post positions and early odds for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby will be set Wednesday evening at a Churchhill Downs ceremony. A maximum field of twenty will run on Saturday. A late entry is Optimizer, trained by four-time Derby winner D. Wayne Lukas.

Special Session Ends

Kentucky Public Radio reporter Josh James reports that lawmakers in Frankfort are headed home now that the week long special session has concluded. The two bills up for consideration passed, providing funding for the state’s transportation department and delivering a modified piece of legislation intended to crack down on pill mills.

Pilot of Boat that Crashed into Western Kentucky Bridge Concludes Testimony

River Pilot Michael Collins says he tried to steer the Delta Mariner through an alternate span of the western Kentucky Eggners Ferry Bridge with confidence he would clear the road deck prior to the accident. The Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board have conducted a hearing this week, investigating the January crash that collapsed a portion of the bridge.
