Kenny Colston is the Frankfort Bureau Chief for Kentucky Public Radio (a collaborative effort of public radio stations in Kentucky). Colston has covered Kentucky's Capitol and state government since 2010. He is a Louisville native, and a graduate of the University of Kentucky. When he's not tracking down stories about Kentucky politics, you can often find him watching college sports, particularly football.

Kentucky Auditor Taking Look at Medicaid and Special Taxing Districts

After months of mounting problems, State Auditor Adam Edelen says he will launch a full investigation into Kentucky’s statewide Medicaid Managed Care system. Edelen created a Medicaid task force in February after taking a first look at the managed care system. He also gave recommendations to managed care companies, health care providers and the state on how to make the system run better in the future.

Massie's Victory in Kentucky's 4th Shines Spotlight on Rand Paul's Influence

Many political pundits are ready to crown U.S. Senator Rand Paul as another Kentucky kingmaker following the Congressional primary victory of Thomas Massie. Paul endorsed tea party candidate Massie, who won the Fourth Congressional GOP primary yesterday. The endorsement was Paul’s first in his home state since becoming Kentucky’s junior senator in 2010.

Political Observers Expect No Surprises in Kentucky Primary

Even though the presidential nomination process is effectively over, Kentuckians can still vote for candidates other than Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama in tomorrow's primary. Republicans can cast ballots for Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, even though they're no longer in the running. And Democrats will be able to choose 'uncommitted' instead of President Obama.

But University of Louisville political scientist Dewey Clayton says those other names don't really matter.

Chief Justice Minton Re-elected

Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice John Minton, Jr. has been chosen to serve a second term. “With this re-election, the justices have expressed their appreciation for the hard work and leadership of Chief Justice Minton,” says Mary C. Noble, deputy chief justice for the Supreme Court in a statement.
