Officials at Western Kentucky University say the opening of a new greenhouse/headhouse facility on the WKU farm will add to a strong partnership between the University and the Agricultural Research Service. The new facility will conduct research on several topics, including ways to reduce odors from livestock production.

Bill Cracking Down on Kentucky Prescription Pills Officially Signed into Law

Kentucky lawmakers and Governor Steve Beshear are applauding the passage of a bill aimed at reducing prescription pill abuse. Beshear signed the pill bill Tuesday, inviting key legislators and law enforcement officers to take part in the ceremony.

Warren County School Once Again Named a Green Ribbon School

A Warren County elementary school is being honored as one of three Green Ribbon Schools in Kentucky. Richardsville Elementary joins Rosa Parks Elementary in Lexington and Georgetown Middle School in Scott County as the only Kentucky schools to receive the award.

Daviess County Budget Contains Employee Raises, No New Taxes

Daviess County Fiscal Court’s next proposed budget has no plans for borrowing money or tax increases. The $74.1 million spending blueprint unveiled this week also calls for county employees to receive 1.5% raises.The Messenger-Inquirer reports Daviess County Judge-Executive Al Mattingly says he wants county employees to receive a 2% raise.
