will be the site of a distribution center. This is
the latest in a string of business deals in

Pence to Serve as Secretary of Justice Cabinet

Frankfort, KY – Governor Elect Ernie Fletcher has named his running
mate in the recent gubernatorial election as the next
Justice Cabinet Secretary in Kentucky. Fletcher says
Steve Pence will serve a dual role as Lieutenant
Governor and Secretary of Justice.

Pence is a former federal prosecutor who plans to
focus on fighting Kentucky's drug problems. During
the gubernatorial campaign, Pence had promised to
be a working Lieutenant Governor who would take an
active role in the administration.

Frito Lay Cutting Jobs in Louisville

Louisville, KY – Frito-Lay Incorporated will close its snack
manufacturing plant in Louisville next month,
putting 326 employees out of work. Employees
at the 41 year old facility were notified today and
received a paid day off.

Highway Death Rate Could Be Highest in Two Decades

Louisville, KY – The Kentucky State Police say the highway death
rate in the Commonwealth is on pace to become
the highest in nearly twenty years. Eight people
died on the state's highways during the four day
Thanksgiving holiday period, bringing the year-to-date
toll to 848.

Judge Dismisses Lawsuit in Autry Case

Bowling Green, KY – Warren Circuit Court Judge Tom Lewis has
granted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed
against Western Kentucky University and
five employees of the institution. The civil
suit had been filed by the estate of Melissa
Kaye Autry, who died after being burned and
assaulted in her residence hall room last May.
