Ft. Campbell Harassment Officer Charged, Relieved of Duties

Army officials say the manager of the sexual assault response program at Ft. Campbell has been arrested in a domestic dispute and relieved of his post.

Lt. Col. Darin Haas turned himself in to police on charges of violating an order of protection and stalking. A spokesman for the post said Haas was immediately removed as manager of a program meant to prevent sexual harassment and assault and encourage equal opportunity.

MSGT Pete Mayes said Haas and his ex-wife have orders of protection against each other. Sgt. Chuck Gill of the Clarksville police department said Hass's ex-wife said he repeatedly contacted her Wednesday night despite the order.

Allegations of sexual assault in the military have triggered outrage from local commanders to Capitol Hill and the White House.

Fort Campbell to Welcome Home 270 Soldiers Tuesday Night

Almost 300 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell are due home from Afghanistan.

A welcome-home ceremony is scheduled for late Tuesday night at the Army installation on the Kentucky-Tennessee line.

The soldiers are members of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. They have been in Afghanistan for nine months.

Ft. Campbell to Focus on Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Fort Campbell will host a Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome Symposium on October 2nd. Organizers of the event say the program will help to address the needs of service members.

Blanchfield's Medals Being Donated to Ft. Campbell Hospital

Relatives of Col. Florence A. Blanchfield are traveling to Fort Campbell to donate her remaining medals and awards to the hospital that was named for her 30 years ago. Blanchfield Army Community Hospital says Blanchfield was the seventh chief of the Army Nurse Corps from July 1, 1943, until Sept. 30, 1947, and was known as one of the most influential nurses in military history. Under Blanchfield, the corps reached its all-time peak of 57,000 nurses.

Fort Campbell soldiers preparing for upcoming deployments to Afghanistan will be learning about the Islamic holiday, which marks the end of Ramadan.Thousands of troops from the Kentucky post will be returning to Afghanistan this year for another deployment.
